Jade Yung's Website

Objective: Jade Yung is a dancer and choreographer currently completing her MA and looking for a range of employment opportunities both during and after her course. Jade lacked an online presence, and so it was decided that she needed a website to both present her portfolio of work and help her funnel in job opportunities.

My task: With limited various pieces of copywriting from official source materials of her work, I was hired freelance to complete all the remaining copywriting for her entire website, and to build the website using the third-party platform, Squarespace.

Insight: Utilising my own tailored brief and meeting with the client, the unique selling point for Jade as an artist was discovered: many competitors in her industry either dance or choreograph exclusively; Jade, on the other hand, wanted to pursue both career paths simultaneously. This improved the scope of those that could hire her for projects and positions, hence the website was to reflect this breadth.

Strategy: The content of the website is half allocated (but not separated) between Jade as a dancer and as a choreographer. Equal weight is distributed to both aspects in visuals, textual content, and overall theme. In particular, it was to be highlighted that Jade’s choice of parallel expertises was not a hinderance to either areas, but rather enhances one another through synergy, and is unified in Jade as a solitary artist.

Result: Working closely with the client by keeping consistent communication and making the most of feedback for revisions, the client was very satisfied with the final product. More copywriting was provided than was used in the final website, which allowed for the option to expand the site with additional content in the future. The entire project was completed within a two-week timeframe to ensure that the website would be live in time for her departure to Hong Kong, and could be used in her forthcoming networking events.
